Neil Brown After graduation from LAHS, I spent my summer working in a YMCA camp in western Massachusetts where I had spent all of my summers since I was 8 years old. In the fall I began my first of seven straight years as a student at Michigan State University. In my junior and senior years I was a starter on the varsity fencing team. I graduated in 1960 with a BS in Recreation Management. In 1963 I graduated with an MA in Counseling and earned an elementary teaching certificate. Throughout my career, I never stopped attending college at either Michigan State or Western Michigan University. I was awarded another Masters major in School Psychology in 1969. My wife Diane and I were married in 1963 and we have three daughters and now four grandchildren. I worked for the Battle Creek Public Schools for a little over 30 years, seven as a teacher and the rest as a school psychologist. I retired at the age of 55 and finished my Ph.D. I then became a consulting psychologist for several counties north of Grand Rapids, Michigan for ten years. After deciding that the cold and snow was too much for us, my Diane and I moved to the Portland area along with one of our daughters and her family, which includes two granddaughters. It rains some here but you don’t have to shovel it. One of my hobbies out here is as a member of the Eagles Nest, a group with roots in Philly that takes over an Irish Bar and watches the Eagles games. Throughout my life I have been a member a numerous Masonic Organizations and have made some contacts out here in Oregon. Fishing still remains my number one hobby. |
