GUIDELINES AND SUGGESTIONS FOR WRITING YOUR BIO

This page includes guidelines on how to write your BIO, create your PIC, and to do Memoriams, plus details regarding privacy.  This set of guidelines is either located in other places in the site or is also accessible from other locations in the site. 

GUIDELINES AND SUGGESTIONS FOR WRITING YOUR BIO

When you write your BIO, it should come from your heart.  Make it sound as positive as possible, without omitting unhappy life events that may be of significance to your journey from graduation to now.  By all means display your sense of humor as often as possible, and make it fun for yourself.  Your BIO should be unique, not like anyone else’s.  If you need a framework for a kick start, a general outline guideline follows:

• Introduction – brief reminder of who you are and maybe a reference to an accomplishment or position held while in high school.
• Education beyond high school
• Work history experiences/related accomplishments
• Military experience/rank
• Family(s), spouse(s), children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, planned new children, etc.
• Summary – This should be in your words/prose/poetry/etc. about either some specific events, occurrences, accomplishments, and even tragic events, or it can be a general discussion.  This can include any special traveling or moving accomplished that may be interesting, like trips to the moon, and anything else interesting about your journey to now.
• If desired, include your contact info here.

The above format is a guideline for consistency only and is not intended to be an enforced rule.  You may write one sentence or multiple sentences/paragraphs, or you can use this guideline.  Feel free to write as much as you wish, but be advised to keep it to two or less pages—one is suggested, and include your contact info as you choose.  

Make it fun for yourself and use your sense of humor as much as you can.

SUBMITTING COMPLETED BIO

When you are satisfied with your BIO, send it by email to Ruth Hanna Hood who will collect and review them before sending them to Allen for uploading to the web-site.  If you cannot do this electronically, make a copy and send that to Ruth by Snail-Mail (USPS), which she will reproduce electronically.  Those who need to, please use your assigned “Buddies”.

GUIDELINES AND SUGGESTIONS FOR CREATING YOUR PIC

You should provide a picture of your choice regarding your life journey, which can include your family.  You can create a composite (collage) of more than one picture into one presentation and have that scanned.  

SPECIFIC PIC INSTRUCTIONS:

Pictures should be digital, so a digital camera or a cell phone with picture capability is preferred.  Upload your picture choice to your PC and email it as an attachment to Allen.

All original hardcopy pictures, collages, etc. can be scanned and then attached to e-mails to Allen (See “Buddies” above).  Floppies and CD’s are OK and should be Snail Mailed to Allen.  

For public scanning Wal-Mart, Target, CVS, Kinko’s (from cheapest to most expensive) all provide scanning at nominal fees.  These fees run from about $2.50 to $5.00 plus the cost of a CD.  Kinko’s allows 24 images per CD, while Wal-Mart allows up to 4, and this can include your digital PICs.  Call Allen if you have any questions.

IN MEMORIAM

You can write a memoriam about a deceased classmate who was your personal friend.  These will be in place of a BIO for that deceased person and will be titled as such.  Follow the same procedures shown above for submitting BIOs and PICs.

OTHER BUSINESS:

Clean copies of the group cap and gown picture, the long picture from the class trip, and the programs, etc. from our various graduation events are desired (We have the commencement program).  Other class trip pictures and other history are welcomed.

I have found a single source of pictures and information about Lansdowne, both current and historically. This historian has offered to help us in any way possible.  Suggestions regarding like material about Aldan and East Lansdowne are also desired.

SPECIAL NOTE:

• If you desire to revise your already submitted PIC and/or BIO, you can do this.  Please notify Ruth or Allen of your intention, and we will manage this process.
