Marion Gallagher Bachinger Hi classmates! In high school I enjoyed hanging out with friends, playing basketball and softball, singing in the choir, and attending Miss McCullough's senior English class. Upon graduation, I went off to Millersville State Teachers College and earned a B.S. degree in elementary ed. In 1960 I accepted a teaching position with the Ridley Township School District--Fourth grade. During the summer vacation of 1961, I drove to California with three other Millersville grads, including Barbara Jeffries Cerbus. I can still see us driving down historic Route 66 in my 56 Chevy. Tom Bachinger and I were married in December of 1972. I left teaching at that time; we purchased a house in Springfield; and our son, Matthew, was born in 1975. During this time, Tom was employed at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. In 1990 I accepted a position at The Timothy School, a state-approved private school that teaches children with Autism and PDD. I had special training sessions at the University of North Carolina. I retired in 2000, but I continue to work as a substitute at the Timothy School. Tom retired in 1995 after 36 years at the shipyard. We enjoy summers at our house in Ocean City, N.J., and March trips to Florida to visit family and friends. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone. |
