Norma Lehman Hall

Hi, I’m Norma Lehman Hall – and I’ll bet that many of my classmates won’t remember me, as I probably held the class record for “absent days!”   I spent most of my “free” time working in 69th Street to support my horse, and hanging out with the stable crowd at Cobbs Creek.   That’s where I met my future husband, Dave Hall, and we married a few weeks after I graduated.  Dave and I had three children (two girls and a boy) and I was a “stay-at-home” mom for almost ten years.  During that time we moved around a bit and even tried living in York County, PA, for awhile.   However, we found the country lifestyle a little too quiet and returned to live in East Lansdowne for several years – until we divorced early in 1966.

That’s when life got really interesting for me.   In 1965 I had attended Taylor School of Business in Philadelphia, and in 1966 I began working for The Bulletin newspaper in their advertising department.   I also became active in the American Youth Hostels and learned to ski and sail.   In September 1967, I decided to take my children and live in Munich, Germany, for awhile.  Germany appealed to me because I'm of "German-descent" and Munich is a city nestled near lakes and mountains ..... very scenic!    We loved this beautiful city and countryside, and made several lifetime friends there.   I've since visited other European cities and enjoyed them as well (Paris, Amsterdam, Zurich, Rome, Seville, etc.).

When we returned to the States, I accepted a job as receptionist for the old Central Penn National Bank in Philadelphia – working my way up to a banking officer position in commercial credit.  Banking became an exciting 36-year career for me, working through mergers and changes with the most recent position being an SBA (Small Business Administration) loan specialist for Hudson United Bank.  However, enough was enough, and I retired in 2003.

While the children were still in school, we spent as much time as possible enjoying various outdoor activities (horseback riding, sailing, skiing, etc.); and traveling to Europe, Canada, and numerous states.   Also, as my banking career and finances improved, I returned to my early love of horses and owned several horses for many years.  I moved to Broomall in 1981 to be closer to the horses.  Now that I’m retired and living in West Chester, I appreciate having more time for family activities (especially my four grandchildren), and working on home projects that I never had time for before.   Life has been good, and I’ve found that all the “fun memories” can be re-lived through pictures, movies, reading ….. and most of all, quality time with family and friends !
