George W. Link, Jr. After graduation I worked as a claims department clerk for a large multi-line insurance company. In 1960 I enlisted in the Army and spent nine years on active duty serving in New Jersey, Korea, Hawaii, Washington DC, and Missouri. Subsequent to leaving the Army, I spent nearly 16 years with the Southern Pacific railroad in various clerical and train operation positions. My final 13 years were with the Social Security Administration where I retired as a Hearing Analyst. At age 42 I decided to attend college and in 1982 received an AA degree in Religious Studies from San Bernardino Valley College, a BA in Religious Studies in 1984 and a BA in Music in 1986 from the University of California. My career in part-time music spanned a period of 40 years, having served as an organist, choral and instrumental director, singer and music teacher. In 1967 I earned my pilot's license and in 1987 decided to join the Civil Air Patrol. I served in various command, staff and instructor positions ultimately attaining the grade of Lieutenant Colonel. I married in 1962 and had a son in 1963. Following a divorce, I remarried in 1969. Both of those marriages were unsuccessful. I met my current wife, Harriet via a video dating service in 1989 and we were married in 1990. We enjoy traveling and gardening. |
