 Judy Wheeler Moberly

From 1956 to l967 I worked at State Farm Insurance Companies in Springfield, Pennsylvania. When I married Tom Moberly, a widower from Ohio, I also gained three sons: Mike, Charlie and Dave. In 1968 my son Jim was born, and Paul arrived the following year. In 1970 we moved to Bloomington, Illinois, where I raised my five boys—they are the joys of my life! I have had a busy, but wonderful life, filled with boys’ activities. I have some great memories.

In 1992, when the boys were living on their own, I left my husband and moved back to Pennsylvania for a little more than two years. Then I went to Pensacola, Florida, for eight months to help my sister get settled in her new home, and then I moved back to Illinois. I worked in a department store for a while, but finally got back on at State Farm and enjoyed working there for eight years.

In 1996, after I was informed that I had breast cancer, I had surgery on October 31. I am thankful and delighted to report that Judy will be a ten-year survivor on October 31, 2006.

I bought a condo in a lovely area, with great neighbors, in Bloomington, Illinois, in 2000. Life is great fun. It doesn’t get any better!!

As of August 1, 2003, I retired and drove to Pennsylvania/New Jersey to live with my mother, who was in failing health, at the Jersey shore. I was with mother when she passed on April 19, 2004. We had many fun days together and soooo many beautiful memories of the nine months we were together. I would not have traded this time with her for anything in the world.

The five boys are doing well.

  • Mike is now 50 years old and lives with his wife, Christy, here in Bloomington. They have no children, just two spoiled rotten dogs.
  • Charlie is 48 and lives here in town with his wife Tunde. They have two sons. Tommy is in the Air Force and stationed in Alaska. Matt will be a junior in high school next year.
  • Dave is 47. He is married to Laura and they live in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Their son Austin, age 17, will be a senior in high school next year. Their twins Jake and Brandy (finally got a girl!), are 12 years old. There is never a dull moment with these two.
  • Jim is 38 and has been married to Danell for a year and a half. They live here in town.
  • Paul is single. He lives in Florida and has a special gal, but he doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to settle down YET.

I am looking forward to the “gathering” of the class of 1956. Many thanks to the entire committee for your time and effort in getting this all organized.
