Mr. George Epley
|
Ken and Rocco Varacalli sat in front of Carolyn Vincent and me in Biology. We were always lab partners. One memorable spring day our class was ill prepared for any discussion. We maintained that he, Mr. Epley, had not give us the assignment, but that argument was not acceptable and it did not prevent our class being “ordered” to report after school. Both Rocco and Ken were expected to be at baseball and most certainly not in Biology class. Nancy was the lucky person called upon to stand and discuss the parts of a flower necessary for reproduction. I was no more prepared at 3 PM than I had been at 9 AM. The day was saved for all of us when Ken put a small study guidebook on the table in front of me and I was able to discuss the pistil and stamen in enough detail to get the class dismissed. I remain convinced that I would still be standing there if it had not been for Ken’s quick intervention. Submitted by Nancy Denkhaus Stott |
