OLIVER B. GORDON
Lansdowne-Aldan High School
Class of 1956
After graduating from Lansdowne-Aldan High School in June of 1956, I attended  Lafayette College for four years.  Even though those years are memorable to me more for fraternity parties than classes, I graduated in June 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  That ended my formal education, although much further knowledge was garnered through work experiences, continuing education in my eventual profession, and culminating with an executive development program during the summer of 1989 at the Johnson School of Business at Cornell University

In the spring of 1961 I made what turned out to be my best and most significant decision.  Even though I chose to resign from a Philadelphia construction company, working in Washington, D.C., to start a life-long career with the Philadelphia Electric Company, that was not the life-changing decision.  That decision was in March when I proposed to Elise Edmiston, who graduated from LAHS in 1957, and we were married July 1, 1961. Our marriage has flourished and lasted ever since.

I stayed at Philadelphia Electric Company, which eventually become PECO Energy, as an internal auditor for over 33 years, winding up as the Director of Audit Services.  After retiring from PECO, I started an internal auditing function for the newly incorporated PJM Interconnection LLC in Valley Forge, PA.  I remained at PJM for two years until I hired my successor, and then I moved on to a part time job in accounting services for Bala Presbyterian Home in Philadelphia.

We moved from Drexel Hill to a new home in an over 55, active adult community in Skippack, PA in 2003, and since then I have been fully retired.  However, I spend most of my time either walking on the beach or reading on the beach in Ocean City, NJ at our summer home.  Only then do I experience the true bliss of retirement.  Of course our summer home has room to house our three kids, their spouses, and our five grandchildren; frequent visits really making everything worthwhile.
